volunteer profile - Ina

Almost a centenarian, but still very active! Ina has received numerous awards for her many faithful and dedicated years of volunteering for the cause of ESL. She says she can’t understand why she’d get rewarded for something she just loves to do; her patience is never wasted when it comes to helping non English speakers become conversant in basic English. She has helped professionals, such as lawyers and nurses, from other countries achieve the necessary standards to become accredited in their respective professions in Canada.

Her most favourite student is one who needs basic conversation skills. Her goal is to help people feel comfortable with English. A plaque her son gave her sums up Ina’s volunteer commitment: “2 teach is 2 touch lives 4 ever”!
